Are you a frustrated small business owner? Did you start your business because you wanted to provide a product or service and now you’re finding yourself spending WAY too much time dealing with compliance issues? Do you know where to go to get answers? Or are you struggling with trying to figure out what you need to do in the area of Human Resources?

Are you trying to balance the business needs while telling your managers how to supervise the work? Have you been scratching your head trying to figure out why you are spending 80% of your time dealing with 20% of your employees? Do the employees who keep running to you with a different complaint every week exhaust you?

We help you stay up-to-date

There are so many different government agencies that cover Human Resources and employment in California and each of them have different requirements, regulations and rules. It can be overwhelming to keep up on all of them — and all of the changes that occur on a yearly basis (if not more often!).

We spend our time to keep up on all of those different requirements so you don’t have to! Clients appreciate knowing that they can call us and get answers to questions rather than scrolling through pages of Google search results. Plus, we make sure the answer applies to the state they are operating within, their size of business, their industry, and doesn’t conflict with their internal policies.

We provide the state mandated training for Harassment Prevention for Supervisors and the new Harassment Prevention for Non-Supervisors. These training sessions are now required for all businesses in California that have 5 or more employees. We also provide Disability Discrimination and Reasonable Accommodation Training in compliance with California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH).

We help you communicate effectively

There are three key Human Resources relationships within the workplace — Supervisor/Employee, Employee/Employee and Supervisory Team. Each of these relationships has their own areas of communication challenges, risks and rewards. We guide individuals and teams to make sure they are communicating effectively within an organization.

SUPERVISOR/EMPLOYEE

You’ve probably heard it before — employees don’t leave companies, they leave supervisors or managers. Well, it’s true. A Gallup poll showed that 75% of employees quit because of their supervisor. How can you avoid good employees leaving your organization? Train your supervisors! We coach supervisors through hard conversations with employees and help them recognize how to engage those on the edge.

We offer training for new supervisors in:

  • Essential Elements of Employment/Labor Law;
  • Workplace Respect and Civility;
  • Leadership, Communication;
  • Workplace Coaching; and
  • Harassment and Discrimination Prevention.

We also work with supervisors on Performance Appraisals/Evaluations, Performance Improvement Plans, Last Chance Agreements and implementing Discipline with damaging the relationship.

EMPLOYEE/EMPLOYEE

Workplace drama. Gossip and rumors. Sideways energy that slows the work flow, increases stress and seems to feed on itself until it grows to epic proportions. We can help. Our Workplace Respect workshop has increased positivity and reduced the workplace drama for several of our clients.

Plus, when you have consistent Human Resources policies that are clearly communicated, everyone knows and understands them. When employees feel that they are being treated differently, drama goes up. When everyone knows the policy, and its enforced consistently, drama goes down. We help businesses develop those policies.

SUPERVISORY TEAM

Your supervisory or management team is both your main support in the workplace and your main “tool” to communicate to the rest of the staff/employees. When dysfunction occurs at this level, the entire organization struggles. When this team is functioning well, the entire organization benefits. We help guide the team to function effectively through a variety of team building, planning activities, facilitating workshops and more.
